Another day, another adventure

And this adventure included coffee.
Not instant but wonderfully delicious, freshley brewed Starbucks.
This is not a good picture of me but it is proof that I am indeed here in Russia with the rest of my family.

We went back to Arbat Street for the sole purpose of coffee and some sweet things to eat.
Plus a little rest and relaxation.
Both times here Scott has asked to have his picture with this statue and I finlly agreed.

So before we made it to Starbucks we got off the subway at Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

It has a very interesting history.  It was built in 1800's, finished in the late 1800's.
This is a picture of the cathedral in 1905.

The church was demolished in 1931 under Stalin in order to create a monument to socialism, the House of Soviets.  Funding ran out so instead they used the foundation hole to create a giant outdoor pool.  The Russians rebuit the church in 1990, finishing it in 2000.

View from the bridge in front of the church to the right...

and the left.
