Acadia: the beach

It was cold!!!!

He warmed up by burying himself in the sand.  Too bad he had to go back to the water to wash off.

Acadia: Jr. Rangers

At Acadia National Park the kiddos went for their Jr. Ranger badge.

They did their activities...

Attended Jr. Ranger sessions...

And took the pledge.

One summer in Maine...

It did not feel like Texas.  Scott said it was cold.

Even though he's cold he has to try the water.

Lobster...never had it but couldn't visit Maine without trying it!

Blueberry Picking

I have always wanted to pick blueberries in Maine.  It's been on my list ever since reading Blueberries for Sal and One Morning in Maine.
We made it up there this summer during prime picking time.

We parked, and hiked up trail to the side of the hill.

They were teeny tiny but delicious!

Bucket list: Blueberry picking...check!

Pepper

Our family grew by one more this summer.  Pepper is a mini-lop picked and named by Sydney, begged for for over a year.  She is part pet, part classroom bunny.

After a month of having her this is what we know...
  • She is litter trained and only uses her litter box.
  • When we got her she was a boy but the vet informed us that she really is a girl.
  • She loves the classroom and hops around all day while the kids are there.
  • The dog desires nothing more than to play with Pepper.
  • She has allergies.

Visit with friends

While Eric was in Germany, the kids and I made a quick trip to Dallas/Fort Worth to visit with old friends.

Getting all the kiddos together for a photo did not go as well as we hoped.

The lake was perfect on this hot July day.

Scott was all about his favorite nature activity--climbing rocks!

Indiana Summer

A few more from our summer trip to Indiana...
