Camping Journal

A new blank page, freshly sharpened colored pencils waiting to color the memories...
I hope this helps them always remember their camping trips.

Camping

After years of talking about going camping we finally went as a family.
The kids LOVED it.  They commented on how much fun they were having all day long.  They were a little tired after a night of sleeping in the tent but they are ready to go again!

We bought fishing poles to try our luck but there were no fish to be had this trip.  The kids didn't have to bait their own hook but they did have to pick up their own worm  :o)

This girl was worn out after a night in the tent as well.  Actually let me rephrase...we were all worn out because of this girl but she did good for her first time and still being a puppy.  Scott and I learned that she does like to swim if she can walk down a ramp into the water.  On a walk by the swimming area Scott wanted to test the water and so did Ainsley and she just took off swimming with me at the other end of the leash.  She swam out past the railing and up under it so it was a tangled mess.  I had to climb out onto the railing to unhook her and rehook.  Thank goodness for retractable leashes.  That one sure came in handy in that situation.

While Scott fished with his pole and daddy with Sydney's pole she collected firewood...

picked flowers and tried to catch butterflies.

Later we went on an island hike.

Scott found himself a "seal" tree.

We even managed a family photo, dog included.

Then it was back to the campsite for dinner.

Galveston Island State Park

This is the year we explore nature or so we decided today when we headed to Galveston Island State Park and bought the pass for all state parks.

We stared off the morning on some trails.  The kids kept asking where the rocks and hills were.  Well...beach hiking isn't your typical hiking.

We discovered some animal tracks in the water.

And so we consulted our trusty footprint guide to figure out whose they were.

I was so worried about seeing every one's face in the picture that I forgot about my own.  I tried to fix it...

Scott is mapping out where he would like to have lunch.

We ended our adventure on ocean side where we had lunch and played in the sand.  It was a chilly 67-70 degree day so there wasn't much swimming.

Strawberry Picking

It's that time of year again.
Time to pick 10 pounds of strawberries!!

There is one in there.  I promise.

Jumping Monkeys

Scott's 7th birthday present was a jumper.  The goal was something that would get the kids up and moving and not sitting in front of a screen.  Success.

 Hang time

It's like Glamour Shots
but without brushing the hair or pound of make up or fancy clothes...

4 - 2 = 2

I am 4 eyes no more.
Glasses are gone thanks to...drum roll...LASIK!

I have never been so nervous for anything.  I couldn't sit still.  I probably could have run a marathon and I'm sure my fidgeting several hours prior was close to being the equivalent of a 5K.

This is post-op + 10mg of Valium + relief that the suction cups were no longer on my eye balls + eyes that feel like they have rocks in them yet the surgeon insists on taking a thumbs up photo with my eyes open.

After the most glorious sleeping pill in the world allowing me a 5 hour nap and then a full night of sleep I could see without pain.  Fabulous.

Busy 30 days

A busy month means random pictures.

Go Texan Day

Princess Tea Party complete with hair, nails and make-up.

Green Eggs (but no ham) at school in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday.
