sea, sand and sun

It's hard to believe beach season is here already.  While my mom was in town we rented a beach bike and had a relaxing drive along the ocean.  On a side note, let me just say that the sidewalks can seem quite narrow and the drop off very high when you are trying to turn one of these beasts around.

Since these pictures Sydney has gotten new, better fitting sunglasses :o)

Scott was more than ready for the water but Sydney was a bit hesitant.
This was actually the kids' and my second trip already this year and Sydney wouldn't touch the water last time.  We jumped over that hurdle early on this trip thank goodness and much fun was then had by all!

Hooray for Sydney!

I'm not saying that I'm officially starting potty training but tonight, quite by accident, it sort of began.

Scott went during dinner and then Sydney was asked if she wanted to go too which she actually said yes and surprise!!  She went.
Scott was so excited for her and there was a lot of hugging and celebrating afterward.

So much for the rest of dinner.

Then she went again about 40 minutes later and we cheered.
Then Scott went and we cheered.
Then I went and they cheered.

Too much information?

This little piggy...

Since Sydney has been born I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've had my toe nails painted.  I actually squeezed in a pedicure with a friend the other night resulting in Sydney also wanting her little piggies painted.

She selected pale pink--more specifically, heart throb.

Zoo

This week Nana has been visiting us in Houston.  Early in the week we headed out to the zoo.  Apparently everyone in Houston had the same idea...
The ducks and pigeons were looking a little hungry so we were sure to give them a snack on our way in.

Once inside...I'm sure Scott was thinking "Mom has her camera so I'll finally get that picture with the elephant I always ask for."

a little bit of drumming

a tiny donation

a spin on the merry-go-round

Why the sad faces?  Is it time to go home?

Today's magic word = ice cream
Now we're back on the right track.

one cone for Scott...check!

one cone for Sydney...check!

one cone for Nana...check!

Wait a second.  What's going on here?

Let me explain.  Child one and child two decided they had enough so mommy two fist-ed it.
I did throw away a small bit of one of the cones so I could say that I didn't finish ALL two cones :o)

Hooray for the zoo!

Daddy's Bat

When we began t-ball I didn't realize that most kids have their own bat and some even have a bat bag already!!  Poor Scott.  At the first practice the coach asked him which was his bat when it came time to hit and he just stood there, probably embarrassed.

Scott and I finally mustered up some courage and brought Eric's old t-ball bat to the last game.  Being 25 years old it's heavier and I didn't know if it met whatever regulations they had nowadays.

Here it is in all it's glory.  Coach referred to it as vintage.  Are we that old to have something that's vintage?!

practice swing

I've also learned that in 3-5 year old baseball there is only one position--1st base.
Scott had the privilege of playing first in our last game.  That's a pretty big deal considering there are only 2 innings and 13 kids on the team!

Pet Rocks

I currently have a bucket of rocks on our porch so I figured why not make some pets?!

Scott's new pet is named Triceratops Tam.

Below is his bio...please forgive all my misspelled words.  I'm not used to writing without spell check these days!

and here he is in his habitat

Sydney chose not to be photographed with her new pet rock which she has named Rock.

Starry Night

The school I used to work for puts on an annual event called Starry Starry Night.  They usually use our fire pit so we loaded it up last night and headed out for s'mores, telescopes, night animals and owl pellets.

They both fell asleep on the way home so I carried Scott in to the bathroom and told him to go potty while I went to get Sydney out of the car.  I came back to find this...
